Latimer Lofts welcomes innovators, artists, and entrepreneurs
to rest and recharge while bring new ideas to light.

In 1881, Lewis Howard Latimer upgraded Edison’s paper filament lightbulb and changed the way the world sees. Latimer, a black inventor and technical draftsman, created the carbon filament, still the standard in incandescent lighting. Latimer’s work has lit the world for the last 138 years. Long before equality, diversity, or opportunity were words in the public nomenclature.

Founded in the Edison Neighborhood in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Latimer Lofts is continuing in Latimer’s legacy by providing beautiful short term residential spaces where creative thinkers, innovators, artists, entrepreneurs, and professionals of all cultures are welcome to rest, reflect, and recharge.
